If space is a physical medium with a finite density, it must relax on a characteristic timescale after a violent disturbance. That timescale is fixed in advance by one measured density, leaving no freedom to fit.
This paper searches the GW170817 post-merger ringdown data for that signature, documents the extraction method, and reports the observed timescale against the predicted floor of 4.6 milliseconds.
