Measurement turns quantum superpositions into definite outcomes, and standard quantum mechanics gives no physical account of when or why this happens.

This paper presents a threshold mechanism: collapse occurs when interaction drives local substrate deformation past a definite threshold. The mechanism reproduces the observed statistics and specifies physical conditions under which collapse happens, making the account testable.
