A real balloon has a deflated initial state: collapsed, folded, crumpled, with no defined surface geometry at all. The teaching analogy is never shown from that state. It always begins already inflated to a smooth, convenient sphere, which corresponds to a settled, structured universe, not to the chaotic initial condition a genuine beginning would require. Skipping the deflated state quietly removes the one part of the analogy that would force an audience to confront what a real origin would have to look like, replacing it with a picture that already presupposes the smooth structure the theory is meant to explain [P5].
