25. JWST's Mature Early Galaxies Are Not Shocking in an Eternal Universe

The James Webb Space Telescope has repeatedly identified massive, morphologically mature galaxies at redshift z greater than 10, corresponding to less than 500 million years after the putative Big Bang, with stellar masses and structural complexity inconsistent with the timescales the standard model allows for structure formation. This tension is acknowledged directly in the mainstream literature (Labbé et al., 2023; Curtis-Lake et al., 2023; Steinhardt et al., 2016; Boylan-Kolchin, 2023). In an eternal universe this is not a paradox requiring repair: mature structures at great distances are expected once the artificial youth built into a finite-origin timeline is removed, since matter has had effectively unlimited time to arise, accumulate, and organise in countless independent regions [L1].
