A real, physically discovered age should be measured once and then hold firm under further scrutiny. The age of the universe under the standard model has not emerged once and stayed fixed; it has been repeatedly renegotiated as the Hubble constant kept changing, moving from a younger-than-Earth estimate in 1929 through several major revisions to the currently cited 13.8 billion years, a figure that is itself already under renewed pressure from newer measurements. Once the Hubble relationship is understood as an emergent statistical property of gravitational sorting, the same mechanism that sorted the solar system's planets into their present orbits, not a fixed expansion rate, this pattern of continual upward revision stops being a puzzle: there was never a single finite age to converge on [P1].
